The weather resistance of chlorobutyl rubber stopper is closely related to the filler. Carbon black is an excellent UV-resistant compounding agent. The chlorobutyl rubber vulcanizate reinforced with carbon black has good weather resistance. Light-colored vulcanizates have poor weather resistance.
Air permeability
The air permeability of chlorobutyl rubber stopper is extremely low, about the same as that of butyl rubber. At 24°C, the air permeability of chlorobutyl rubber is only 1/9 of that of styrene-butadiene rubber and 1/4 of that of natural rubber.
Oil resistance
Chlorobutyl rubber stopper is not an oil-resistant rubber, but with proper coordination, the vulcanizate can obtain a certain oil resistance and has practical value. The more fully vulcanized, the better the oil resistance of the vulcanizate. In addition, the use of some oil-resistant rubbers in chlorobutyl rubber can also improve the oil resistance of vulcanized rubber, such as nitrile rubber and neoprene rubber.
